Some thoughts on Lebanon and such
There are many people who understand only force and violence. In 2006 it is still all the same. They respect you only if you have a machine gun or talk to them via barrel. Origin or nationality does not matter much here. If you don't have a gun or money, you are zero, nothing. If you smash them you can be theirs best friend.
It is interesting to notice middle eastern mentality when hezbollah leaders speak, they can see only the people at the top, may be one or two, mentioning that Olmert and defense minister Perez don't have much experience in that kind of situations. May be that's true. May be if Ariel Sharon was around it would not happen as lebanese remember him carefully from 1982 until today ? But a big mistake on their side is that now people in Israel are consolidated and there is a bunch of professionals who know what to do. They also forgot that Israel Chief of Staff - Dan Halutz came from the air force (for the 1st time ever) and working vs. air force man would be different.
