Robots Market Share

This post is inspired by Jeremy Zavodny's post on browsers preferred by weblog readers. I'm going to show some survey info regarding Robots, visiting this weblog in 2 last months. I also promise to post some info concerning humans, browsers and operating systems preferred. Speaking of which this weblog is very democratic and supports different browsers and operating systems. The info below is rather surprising *:

Bot Name Share
Yahoo! Slurp 63.8%
Googlebot /2.1 27%
BecomeBot ** 5.3%
MS Search 4.0 Robot 2.9%
Zyborg /1.0 0.6%
VoilaBot BETA 1.2 0.18%
grub-client-1.3.7 0.18%
focuseekbot *** 0.09%

* - Askgeeves bot was far more aggressive than yahoo and was banned from this site

** - BecomeBot visited with 5 different versions: 1.62, 1.70, 2.01, 2.03, 2.1.1

*** - I'm going to ban focuseekbot, since it does not provide any additional info, bots should provide.

What the hell is BecomeBot ?

What is BecomeBot? http://www.become.com/webmasters.html

"BecomeBot is the user-agent for Become's new web crawler. Become is crawling the web to build a next generation search engine."

No, they don't, but they are right here in Mountain View (where I live) so I'm going to try and find a connection there. Maybe they have a job opening I can fill. So thanks for posting this to start!
