Who is who in the Search Index
It seems like everyone (including myself) is singing songs to Google, and there are even rumors in the blogosphere that Google is preparing something huge and unexpectable to release in the near future. Also: there is a huge wave about MSN Search searches recently after the Desktop release. I can say on that the following. I've made some analysis recently and my advise is - pay attention to Yahoo. During the last month they have completely rebuild their searches. This site is getting much more traffic now from Yahoo than before. 2 months ago 95% of overall traffic came from Google. But now Google has "only" about 60% of traffic share, speaking of which the overall traffic (and Google's in particular) amount is steadily increasing. Yahoo possesses about 25%, and ~12% goes to MSN. Yahoo search results have become more and more relevant.
Some examples [this specific list is from the world of sql]: This site is Number 5 on Yahoo search for such a simple query as [t-sql] in the world. Speaking of which it is Number 4 on MSN search for the same, but MSN has much smaller index for now :(
[mssql] - Number 8; [sql isnull] - Number 2; [sql coalesce] - Number 1; [t-sql and asp.net] - Number 2 and 6;
Enough. Despite all this, Yahoo has still a long way to go to catch Google, but keep an eye on it.
