How Digg Works
How Digg Works - nice article describing technological infrastructure and community behind Digg.com. What is digg.com ? It is something very popular lately among young tech geeks. One may call it Slashdot Web 2.0 version.
"In the Diggnation podcast recorded on June 14, 2006, Kevin Rose puts the total number of servers in the area of 75. In an e-mail interview with HowStuffWorks, Digg CEO Jay Adelson identifies the servers as Penguin Computing and Sun servers and says the Web servers are running PHP and the Debian Linux."
Markus (from plentyoffish) says it's too much and describes problems and competitors perspective.
My 2 cents: I think digg's community is too arrogant. That is why I don't host "digg this" links on my blog. Regarding the statements about zero editorial control happening. Although it sounds very democratic and forward-thinking it is too populist to be true, imho.
