Oracle: development tool needed

If I compare it to MsSql, I don't have too much experience with Oracle. Despite the fact that I studied it a lot and even passed Oracle certification exams 3 years ago. Personally, I hate Oracle. Don't mind.

Until now I posted only once about Oracle. It was about how to change table column data type in Oracle database -- ALTER TABLE (modify column). That post alone brought me 13% of all search engine traffic to this site during september with search phrases like:

  1. 7.2 % - oracle alter table
  2. 1.6 % - alter table modify
  3. 1.2 % - oracle alter column
  4. 1.2 % - oracle alter table modify
  5. 1.0 % - oracle alter table column
  6. 0.8 % - oracle alter table modify column

The main reason I post all this trash is because I need a powerful development tool for Oracle. It has to be totally free. Is it possible to find such a thing ? Anybody can help ?

Is it to late in your project to switch database types to PostgreSQL? It's even more powerful than Oracle and your free toolbase would probably be better than Oracle. Oracle is cool but from what I see internally here at my company is that everything relating to Oracle costs a ton of money. If you find a good free tool set for Oracle put up a link to it because I could really use one as well.

Andy: If it was possible I prefer to switch to mssql, but it is impossible :(.

Now I use SqlTools:

It is good enough but I need something more powerful.
