Delicer 0.9.3 - is available. Delicer is del.icio.us client for windows. You can download it for free here.

In this release:

Progress bar for operations.
Several internal changes including:
- Updated TOS.
- Changes in API interface due to the fact that "posts/all" has stricter throttling rules than the other del.icio.us API functions. Therefore Delicer does not use "posts/all" anymore. We'll see how it goes :)
Some fixes.

Interesting. As for today - I'm the only Facebook user (out of 20M+) who mentioned "del.icio.us" in their interests.

Delicer 0.9.2 - is available. Delicer is del.icio.us client for windows. You can download it for free here.

In this release:

Windows Vista installation support.
Performance optimizations.
Some fixes.

Just wanted to note that del.icio.us experiencing problems with their del.icio.us API these days (at least yesterday). Especially their API methods for posts. Therefore if you notice Delicer does not work properly - please take into account that there may be temporary problems with del.icio.us servers.

Anyway a quick way to check if del.icio.us is operational is to browse to the url that looks like so:

https://api.del.icio.us/v1/posts/all?tag=YOUR_TAG

Future versions of Delicer will be devoted for overall robustness, fixes and usability.

Delicer 0.9.1 - ultimate del.icio.us client for windows is available. You can download it for free here. It's been almost half a year since the previous release :) Meanwhile Delicer proved to be popular and is about to pass 6000 downloads mark.

What is Delicer ?

Delicer to del.icio.us is like Microsoft Outlook to your Email Account

Delicer is based mostly on del.icio.us API. Youtube API also and some other things in addition :)

Mostly many small fixes are included in the latest version (0.9.1).

How to Configure Delicer to Use Proxy

Delicer is del.icio.us client for windows. One of the issues people have using it is when they try to use it from behind proxy. Here are some steps to configure Delicer to use a proxy:

go to %Program Files%\X2line\Delicer
open X2line.Delicer.exe.config

change the following settings under "system.net" from:

 
< defaultProxy>
    < proxy bypassonlocal="True" usesystemdefault="True" />
< /defaultProxy>

to your proxy settings.

Suppose your proxy has the name "proxy" and uses port 8080. In this case try the following setting:

Delicer - windows client for del.icio.us was announced exactly one year ago. So - I guess it is 1 year anniversary post :)

This project did not get too much attention from my side, however - it gained constant interest throughout this year and almost passed 5000 downloads mark:

Delicer 0.9 - Web 2.0 client for windows is available. You can download it for free here. It's been a while since the latest release :)

Delicer is based mostly on del.icio.us API.

In this release:

Delicer RSS reader is able to read YouTube broken RSS feeds.
Automatic refresh was removed, because it was rather annoying. Instead you can hit F5 or "Reload" from menu.
Numerous shortcuts added (F1, F5 + various CTRL for readers).
Dates handling was fixed and unified either on del.icio.us or on various RSS feeds and now shows correct date and time of Post. It was an issue because of various standards for dates various Web 2.0 sites are using. I'm thinking about providing full RSS reader functionality for the tool in the near future.

Web 2.0: Delicer Review

It has been a while since there was any update for Delicer - Web2.0 client tool. There are some fresh ideas, so I promise to start it up back again :)

During random browsing today I suddenly noticed the following Review: Delicious Tips Managing Tags on Delicer (kicks ass, really):

"This is a desktop program that allows us to effectively manage our whole delicious account. With this program, we can easily search for our own tags and navigate through URLs accordingly without opening a single browser. Also, we can post new, rename existing, and delete old tags without surfing through delicious.com. Furthermore, feeds from You.Tube and Delicious are available with one button-click."

"To give an analogy, Delicer to Delicious is essentially like Microsoft Outlook to our email account. It is very useful to us as our bookmark collection increases. Just like me, Grant & Brett have downloaded the program and is currently using it."

"Because it is a really cool, efficient bookmark organizer, Delicious is getting more and more popular. So Grant, Brett, and I all think that tools like Delicer is not only helpful but neccessary as Delicious reaches more and more users worldwide."

lisun even thinks that "Delicer" is a cool name while I'm not sure. On the other hand it will be very soon 4000 downloads of Delicer despite the fact that there was not a single update for several months now...

del.icio.us Linkroll and Tagometer

del.icio.us is my #1 among Web 2.0 sites. Mainly because it is simple both on the web and via API. It also provides different javascript based linkroll and tag widgets.

You can create your own del.icio.us linkroll widget here.

2 days ago del.icio.us released tagometer widget.

"The tagometer includes an up-to-date count of others who've already bookmarked the page, as well as a fresh list of the top tags applied".

Tagometer can be configured here. Currently I placed both widgets (linkroll and tagometer) on my - del.icio.us client download page. Currently tagometer widget shows 110 bookmarks for this page already. Speaking of Delicer (del.icio.us windows client), there are some changes and new features in the stack. May be I gonna rename it soon also. Enjoy :)
