MyBlogLog was acquired by Yahoo just a month and a half ago and already gained an amount of bad reputation among bloggers and site owners.
However, MBL seems like to be one of the best examples when bad implementation can ruin a great idea. I used to have MBL widget on my blog but decided to remove it a week ago mostly because:
- MBL widget is very slow - slows down the site.
- MBL widget collects too much information - much more than seems it has to.
- Percentage of traffic that goes outside MBL is rather low. So - it is generally a one-way service.
Seems like the service is just not mature enough for the amount of traffic it gets now, neither in terms of scalability nor security. The number of security and identity exploits is huge. Not to mention bugs and numerous kinds of spam it generates.
