Linking to Wikipedia is lame

IMHO, of course. I advice fellow bloggers not to link to wikipedia because it is totally anti-web service:

  • It usually does not link back.
  • Its editors delete and remove data.
  • It has blatant moderating policies.

I personally stop linking to wikipedia from now on. What about you ?

I'm in the position of actually getting more traffic FROM Wikipedia (someone linked the Kevin & Bean and Richard Blade entries to my blog) than I give to Wikipedia (via my del.icio.us tags). Of course, I also link to other places with "blatant moderating policies," such as the news services.

Ontario: Well, news on news services are written by professionals, while wikipedia is supposed to be user-driven, while actually it is moderator driven. Try to just link to your blog, your entry will be deleted in seconds.
